A blog about DADSWith Father’s Day coming up in a few weeks I got to thinking about the role of 'the DAD in our lives'. Families come in many shapes and sizes, and in cases where there is no dad in the formal sense, Grandad might step in to carry out one of the family's most important roles: to entertain us, make us laugh, teach us tricks like wriggling our ears and rolling our tongues, lend us money, give those embarrassing speeches at our weddings, let us go to that concert when mum said no (oops, did I say that?), and kick our butts when we do wrong. There is one common thing we share when we think about our fathers and that is, without them, our growing up would only have been half as fun! How would you describe your dad? Share your thoughts by adding a comment below. Here are some gorgeous quotes about fathers... “There are three stages of a man’s life: He believes in Santa Claus, he doesn’t believe in Santa Claus, he is Santa Claus.” – Author Unknown “Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope.” – Bill Cosby “When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.” – Mark Twain “A father carries pictures where his money used to be.” – Anonymous “A man knows he is growing old because he begins to look like his father.” – Gabriel Garcia Marquez “It is a wise father that knows his own child.”– William Shakespeare “Any man can be a Father, but it takes someone special to be a dad.” – Photographer Anne Geddes “The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.” – Henry Ward Beecher
